Stratified Property Fire & Package Insurance - Basic Insurance Coverage and Claim Knowledge
Course introduction
As a management body of the stratified property, it is crucial to understand the stake and the complexity in the areas of risk and the importance of uncovering it to safeguards the interest, financial status and potential risk exposure through having the in-depth knowledge and competent skills in handling insurance claim and procedure. Through this course, you will be learning and get to know examples of probable mishap that could occur to your property ranging from property damage, bodily injury to liability.
Objective
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:-
- Identify the 3 major type of insurance policies in Stratified Property Fire insurance package
- Describe at least 3 insured perils & insurance claims that commonly happen in Stratified Property.
- Illustrate the basic insurance claim process and 3 type of documents for general insurance claim.
Methodology
This course will be conducted by a senior risk assessor with the sharing of real life/practical insurance claim examples on top of learning the basic knowledge of fire insurance and other insurance coverages.

Ms. Kathy Lim is a highly experienced insurance risk professional, currently serving as the Head of Claims, Operations & Training at VA Risk Consultant Sdn Bhd, a consultancy firm that specializes in Stratified Property Insurance across Malaysia.
She graduated in 2010 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. In pursuit of professional excellence, she earned her Registered Financial Planner (RFP) certification in 2016, completed the Basic Loss Adjuster Course in the same year, and was accredited as a HRDF Certified Trainer in 2021.
With over 12 years of practical experience, Kathy is deeply involved in the planning, implementation, and advisory of fire and property insurance programs, with a focus on high-rise residential buildings (strata properties). She has led and managed numerous complex claims cases and risk transfer projects, servicing over 200 Management Corporations and Joint Management Bodies (MC/JMBs), covering more than 80,000 strata individual units nationwide.
Kathy is also a corporate trainer, regularly conducting training programs for property managers, managing agents, and MC/JMB committee members on topics such as insurance fundamentals, claims processes, and legal risk management.
